Reflective Essay

In my many years of writing, I must say that my junior year of high school has really broadened my writing skills with words, reports and poems. I can remember it like yesterday when I would sit and write poems about the fish in the sea and draw pictures of the ocean to spice up the paper. Not only in my junior year, but in my whole high school experience I’ve learned different ways to write where I don’t need a picture to make my paper seem more creative. I have seen myself come a long way with a lot of struggle and hesitation to write, but I personally feel that the outcome of hard work and vocabulary tests have made me the confident writer I am today.
During my early days as a preschooler, I would always read and write with my Grandma. I can honestly say that is where I got my love English from. Before I could even write, I would make up stories at the top of my head and tell my Grandma I was going to publish a book once I learned how to write full sentences. As soon as I discovered how to write poetry, I came up with some very wacky poems. When kindergarten started in late summer the following year, I was one step ahead of everyone in my class. I was never afraid to stand up in front of the room and attempt to read what I had written on my paper.
English had always been my strong subject, but as I got older that seemed to change. When my Grandma moved to North Carolina while I was in the third grade, I was hesitant to write without her. I guess another way to put it is, I was stubborn and upset that she was so far away. English had always been me and my grandmas bonding time, she taught me more then my teachers. I was young and unhappy, but little did I know my upcoming future.
After the stage of being of trying to ignore English, I came to realize that it was almost impossible to get away from. As I got older, I read a lot of books which inspired me to write even more than my Grandma had. I entered many writing contests, including stories...
