Race In My Community

The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, (DFW), is an extremely culturally diverse group of communities.   The DFW area is home to the sixth busiest airport in the world, over 59,000,000 travelers from around the world pass through this airport each year, (Wikipedia 2007).   The population of the DFW metroplex is over 6,000,000 people, (Wikipedia 2007).   The metroplex is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States, (Wikipedia 2007).
    As a result of the large population, and the busy international airport, the DFW metroplex has an international population that features foreign nationals, foreign immigrants, (legal and illegal), and American citizens of all cultural backgrounds.   Caucasian Americans of European descent are the dominant group, and there are large communities of Hispanic people, mostly from Mexico, many are from Central and South America as well.   There are several sizeable Asian communities, including: Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Korean, Persian, and the Middle East, just to name a few.   Racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity are all well represented in this community, and I believe that while we all have our problems, we all have an equal opportunity to share the American dream.
My Workplace
    I work in a large gourmet food market in Plano, Texas, (Central Market).   Many of my fellow employees are from different nations; mostly Mexico, and Central and South America.   I have co-workers from all over the African continent, places such as: Ethiopia, Somalia, Ghana, and

Nigeria.   Asian employees in my workplace are also well represented; they are mainly from China, with some Indonesians and Vietnamese as well.   In addition to the foreign nationals and
