1- This is has been the greatest year of my life, and now, in the span of two months, I am back on Vancouver Island. In the later days of September, I was on the East side of the island for 6 days, and now I am finally back among the lush forests and beautiful landscapes. Leaving Calgary, I watched the free TV thanks to Westjet, and it made time fly. Arriving at the ever so large Victoria International Airport (International, for 1 flight leaves for Seattle and San Francisco, which is another “nation”) with a total of 7 gates, with only two connecting to the plane, they have a large mall (1 store, 3 food places), and tons of luggage belts (2). Compared to Calgary with 50+ gates, over 200 stores, and at least 10 baggage belts, it was a dump. It was tied for first smallest “International” airport I have been to with Puerto Vallarta and Kelowna. We waited for what seemed like an our, only to get on an overheated bus. Man, it was HOT. For 4 whole hours, we drove and drove up through Victoria, Nanaimo and finally arrived in Port Alberni. There, we ate pizza made by Granny’s Chicken, which makes no sense. It was good, but it could have been better. We then got stuck on a bumpy road for 2 hours, and the TV screens were shaking so hard I thought they were going to break, but it somehow held on. Then, around the corner, was the town of Bamfield. I didn’t expect a city, but this was smaller than I expected. It was a couple Inns, a lot of cabins, and then BMSC. Bamfield Marine Sciences Center. 75 hectares of lush forests, and a couple of buildings. This was looking like a great trip. My butt still hurt from the long drive, and I couldn’t wait to go to sleep. It took us 13 hours to get from Calgary to Bamfield. That sounds so long, but Kento was on a plane for 27 hours. Ouch. We drove down a dirt road (main street) and we saw the dorms. After a quick u-turn, we parked down the road, and dragged our baggage to our room, 310. It was super nice. I expected a...
