college freshman and even college graduates have or had no idea what they wanted to do…
I have wanted to go to college since I was twelve; I believed it would be exciting to go to school as an adult. When I became a teenager I thought I had decided that I wanted to be a school teacher, but as we grow these things change. I then attempted college for something completely different but was unable to finish due to tragic circumstances. Now at twenty-six years old I have found what I truly want to do with my life. I took a career interest profiler, a program that provides you with possible occupations that match your interests. After taking the profiler, I find I may slightly disagree. However, my results did show me new things about myself I did not know. From these results, I have created some SMART goals to help achieve my ultimate goal.…
Throughout almost everyone’s life, there is a focus on the future, more specifically in a future career. As young children, we have the hopes of being doctors, police officers, fairies, and princess. When we grow older we learn about the realities and the limits of our futures. We understand that we cannot be fairies or the Flash. However, the pressure to decide what to do in life is always there. A pressure which is the most prevalent in the first years of college. In “Major Decisions” by James Tunstead Burtchaell he explores the ways that picking a major in college is less of a pathway to a certain career, but more to wider possibilities in the future. The importance in not in the career that can be the final goal but rather the knowledge about…
Ever since I transferred to the University of Miami as an undergrad, I have had the gratification and honor to meet and work with various remarkable people, from physicians to scientists and staff. Doing research and shadowing at Miami Miller School of Medicine gave me the prospect to admire how marvelous the school and its community are. Furthermore, I have had the satisfaction to meet several professors who teach at the medical school and the prospect of learning from them is enticing. Being able to experience first-hand the compassion and care that the doctors at Miller demonstrate their patients have also confirmed that this school is not short of role models for me to follow. Additionally, I have met several students who have shared their…
My dream for the next four years is to achieve a Physician Assistant degree at St. John’s University. As I transition to college from high school, I understand how there is no one in the world besides myself to help me reach my goal and it will require hard work as well as motivation to reach that point. At times, I feel overwhelmed with the struggles that arise in achieving my degree, but that would not stop me from my main point in coming to this school. I am able to connect my experience to the experience the Nolan’s and my dad went through when it was their time to achieve their dreams. I find it to be very lucky to go to school in New York because I am already one step ahead of my game to fulfill my target since New York is the place where there are many opportunities for everyone. Hence, having a motivated outlook on life, everything that is impossible will be…
It convinced me to pursue a path in medicine, so I could learn how to work the intricacies of our internal wiring. Taking AP Psychology also opened to me the field of neurology- the foray into the complex chemistry of our brains. I found beauty in the brain’s delicate neural pathways that housed entire lifetimes of memories, and the unique ability of introspection. Along with classes, I participated in medical-oriented clubs such as Health Professionals of America, which helped me experience life in the medical field. As well as clubs, I was an active player in the Girl’s Basketball team in freshman year. I also take archery lessons to improve my dexterity and stamina, which taught me the importance of persistence for improvement. Both my family and my own interest in medicine inspired me to pursue a career path towards Biology in college. Since medicine is increasingly becoming more corporal, I chose to complete a double degree in Biology and Healthcare Management- an option that only UT Dallas…
As a high school student there’s a lot of work and event’s going on. Whenever someone says “so what are you doing after high school”? I always say I don’t know. Sometimes it helps me to think what I don’t want to do and it narrows it down for me. My dad has been in the fire department for 30 years and he’s always saying I should follow in his footsteps. I would love to commit to a job like everyone else, but I feel like once I get older my mind will change. My post-secondary goals are still unclear, but not because I don’t know what to do. It seems like there are a lot of careers I would fit into and would excel at. So why would I commit to one now. By the end of high school, I will pursue a career and I can see if I like it or not. I have spent my whole childhood thinking about playing college football but I don’t really see a…
After high school, I plan on attending the University of California, Riverside and obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree. In my time in college, I hope to strengthen some of my skills such as independence, perseverance, and determination in order to prepare for a harder education after college. After I graduate college, I plan on taking the Medical College Admission Test in order to attend medical school and become a pediatrician. Being a physician has always interested me, but I did not actually plan on following through with this career until my high school years. I learned it is a very well-paid career and that being a physician for children will make the career more enjoyable.…
It has also helped prepare me for my future nursing classes, giving me a head start. My interest are kinda all over the place but most definitely is some where in the medical field. I want to make myself into a very successful person. My interest is basically the same, I love science. Learning about science and watching documentaries have always seem to intrigued me. My goal by going to college is to come out doing something I love and most importantly helping others. That has been my ultimate goal in life, I want to make someone, be animal or person better. I feel I have the patients and qualities to succeed in college and the medical field. I want to go to class every day, stay on what I need to do. I want to join a club make some good friends. Also, by joining clubs I began to make new opportunities. Most importantly I want out of the loop my family has created. I have seen what living paycheck to paycheck does to a person. Mostly how it affects their children and I don't want that for a…
Describe your college and career goals. Explain how LBCPA will help you to attain them.…
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of people who have helped me and encouraged me during college career. My utmost gratitude goes first and foremost to my supervisor, Ms.Lu Meihua. Without her critical comments and consistent instructions, it would be a difficult task for me to finish this paper…
My interest in healthcare began at a very young age. My grandfather who is a doctor and always believed that I will follow in his footsteps influences my dream. I realized about three years ago that medicine wasn’t my forte but discovered my passion for business. I still dream to work in healthcare and strive to make a difference in people’s lives. In undergraduate school, I attended…
Though, as of this point in my life, I do not yet know what career I would like to pursue, or even what general field I would like to study or work in. I do have certain goals that I know I shall work to attain. These goals are fairly common among most people. Such as the goal of financial security, and financial ability to support a family; the goal of continuous intellectual and physical competitiveness; as well as a goal of general well being, and happiness. In America, many people with these goals go to a college or university in order to achieve them. Their path has been proven to be effective, and so I too have chosen to go to college.…
The Future is something that a lot of people give little thought to. What makes this habit a shame is the fact that the future is where we are headed. We don't get into a car and start driving with no clear thought or reason as to where we are headed. To do so would lead to many unforeseen events such as not arriving to our desired destination, getting lost, or worse. I personally believe that everyone should put as much thought into where they want to and how they plan to get there. Doing this is a lot like planning a road trip, you figure out where you're going, how you're going to get there, how much of your resources it will take, what road blocks you may come across, and what you are going to do when you get there. The end to my road lies at my arrival in a successful career in Information Technologies.…
Many people enter college with their futures already situated in their minds. Their dreams and aspirations are already in place, set for them months or years prior to settling into their first college dorm room. They may choose to be a Nurse, Teacher, or a Police Officer. No matter the choice, there was some instance in their life when they chose that road. My choice was made in the back seat of mr. bingings mock trial class of my junior year. Being from a family where you are expected to be a great student, I always knew that I would succeed at what ever my future goals would be. My father said that he always knew that mine would be the Lawyer or judge or something. Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to be a lawyer, and for many including myself, it’s the income of the profession.…
