Introduction
Persuasion refers to the process of influencing the behaviour and attitudes of particular individuals in a field e.g. customers in business. The ability of a good business to persuade customers to come into the business is fundamental in promoting the sales of the Company. Persuasion involves motivating the sales team of the Company and is synonymous with an effective communication. Many businesses have several methods of persuading their customers but some other orientations suggest that the best way is to let others advertise on behalf of the business.
Types of persuasion principles
There are several principles of persuasion but the common principles are; Consistency, Social validation, Liking, Reciprocation, Scarcity and Authority. The principle of consistency is often associated with commitment in the organization. Business entrepreneurs have argued that inorder to achieve in persuading customers the managers need to keep a track record of whatever is happening in the organization so that the consistency of customers is monitored and kept so that they can live up to the standards they have put down on paper.
Human beings are social beings whom they can create a bond with anyone as long as the individual is sociable. This is a key element in business persuasion and is termed as Social validation. Customers will auger well with individuals who are so much sociable but may not be interested with unsociable individuals. Persuasion therefore entails use of good communication skills so that a good social environment is developed between the business and the potential customer.
Liking is a very simple principle which can be used by an organization. This principle entails the management liking everyone who is a potential customer of the company or business.
