Problem Solution: InterClean, Inc.
InterClean Inc. is engaging in a new business plan to produce a full service line of cleaning products that will require the organizational capability necessary to learn new skills and develop staff to implement the plan (InterClean Scenario, UOP, 2008). This will include transferring knowledge across departments so that staff understands all aspects of the product lines to fully complement their sales experience (InterClean Scenario, UOP, 2008). Multi-functional teams sharing cross department knowledge and skills will be necessary to implement the full service model. Sales staff will need to engage with an array of vendors and partners in their customers’ organizations. This will require a format capable of transferring best practices and disseminating knowledge across units and departments.
Human Resource issues such as integrating new employees from EnviroTech as well as terminating some InterClean employees will undoubtedly create uncertainty, and questions of equity and justice for long term staff are bound to emerge (Glinow & McShane, 2005, p.130). InterClean will need to ensure policies and procedures employ high levels of organizational justice and ethics so that the transition runs smoothly and the personnel stay committed to the long range implementation of the vision.
