The sector has witnessed a transformation over the last decade as a result of the economic liberalization which started in 1991.The Indian capital markets have undergone a substantial change over the last decade. India is now placed among the mature markets of the world. With over 20 million shareholders, India has the third largest investor base in the world after USA and Japan.
