President Bush
When I look back someday at the catastrophe that was the Bush administration, I will think of many things: the tragedy of the Iraq war, 9/11, rising gas prices, foreclosure homes, and a failing economy. Truth is; the next president will have to deal with yet another crippling legacy of George W. Bush. It’s been hard to get by with the money my family and I make, one can only imagine how low income families are getting by. Yet nothing is being done to help those that have no one else to turn to instead, one of the few things Bush has done as president is a couple of tax cuts geared toward rich folks. And in 2008, President Bush was nominated the worst president in U.S. history (Wilentz, Rolling stone). I couldn’t agree more.
The war in Iraq has cost us dearly in blood and money. The soaring prices of oil are clearly related to the Iraq war and we’ve lost more solders in the war than civilians in 9/11. With soaring gas prices everything has gone up. I can’t even go to the supermarket and buy everything I use get with a hundred dollars. Now it takes me $40 dollars to fill up the Honda Civic, when it only uses to take us $22 dollars. We can’t go anywhere anymore without having to worry about how much gas we’re going to spend. One would think the Metro would be the right solution, but their fairs have also gone up and it would cost me more money to take the metro then to drive to work. They too have been affected by the high gas prices. I blame the president, along with the oil companies, for not having done enough to soften the tide of gas prices.
Rising foreclosure homes have already battered some of our largest financial institutions, created ghost towns of once vibrant neighborhoods. A good example would be my neighborhood. Two houses down from my home would be another five empty homes due to foreclosures. And now, we too have come to the same fate, losing our house because of outstanding mortgage payments.
