You have countless stories, memories, intuitions and desires within you. You are the AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A MIRACLE !!"

    Elie Wiesel's Heroism

A quote that exemplifies this is by Elie Wiesel, who once said, "When a person doesn't have gratitude, something is missing in his or her humanity. A person can almost be defined by his or her attitude toward gratitude." Elie Wiesel is a writer, who was put through Auschwitz as a Jew during the Holocaust. He has been given many reasons to give up on humanity, but he chooses not to. Though Wiesel has seen unspeakable things, he still has love to give. A second example of this is human rights activist Malala Yousafzai. She fights for education for all, specifically girls in third world countries. While speaking on anti-discrimination, she said, "There should be no discrimination against languages people speak, skin color, or religion." In today's world, though we like to pretend otherwise, there is a lot of hate centered around those things. People see someone different and instantly separate themselves from that person. They become ignorantly hateful. Malala speaks against that hatefulness, and rejects the idea that people should be treated differently based on those things. A final example is Mattie stepanek, a poet and a peace advocate. He was diagnosed with a rare muscular dystrophy, and only lived to fourteen. A quote of his, speaking about peace, is, "If we simply, but profoundly, choose to make peace an attitude and a habit and a reality, peace is possible." Stepanek is saying that if one acted peacefully, and then others did the same, the world would be filled with peace. Just like Wiesel, Mattie's life had not been kind to him. He had valid reasons to be angry, but through it all he smiled, and imagined a world where everyone could do the…

I think that my attitude about gratitude is very important. Over the past couple weeks, I have been assingned to write about what I am grateful for or something good that has happened to me that day. I think that this has really truly strengthed my health in a lot of ways. I used to think that I wasn’t that wealthy. I used to think that everyone has more than me. I have had a talk about this with my parents and they have said that you should be so grateful for what you have. I have been thinking about this lately and its really got to me. I have read an article that there was a group of kids. Someone asked all of them to write down what they were thankful for each day. Some of the kids did it and some didn’t. it turns out that the ones who did it were the most happy. They were so happy and cheerful rather than the other kids who did not appreciate all that they had. They think that they should just be automatically given that stuff. If you think like that you will never be happy. I have learned from experience. When you are grateful for everything you are happy about everything. If you are happy about everything, then it can effect you entire health. Mentally and Socially. Just like we have gotten to write in a gratitude journal, that is practicing for many things. In my article, it says “people that have gratitude tend to be more creative, bounce back more quickly from adversity, have a stronger immune system, and have stronger social relationships than those who don’t practice gratitude. I think this totally true and I agree with it. In the end, being grateful makes you feel so amazing and happy.…

It may be safe to say that everyone at one time or another has seen something out of the ordinary. Some would even call these rare occurrences “miracles.” What qualifies as a miracle differs from person to person based on their own beliefs. Some believe in fate, and predetermined destiny, and some would write off extraordinary and seemingly supernatural events as merely coincidence. Many find solace in religion, and believe that many happenings, if not everything, are miracles from God. Those who consider themselves religious might even consider themselves more grateful for life’s so called many miracles. Gabriel Garcia Marquez addresses this issue in his short story “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings.” The old saying “seeing is believing” does not apply to the characters of this story, as they struggle to make sense of such an outlandish old man, that appears to be an angel. This satirical piece uses the old man as a symbol of faith and religion to mock the role that they play in people’s lives, as well as the overall skeptical nature of humans in general.…

The meaning of quote is how we should all help others without expecting anything in return. For example of this could be to give out money to someone who needs it and pretend that we never had that money. It is also very important that when we give someone something we should not regret it as it was done with good intentions. In a way I can relate to this quote as I had given people money, without expecting anything in return. Such as homeless people, whom are not financially stable and could not pay back. Other example of this could be giving someone our time when they need us, as life isn't just about materialistic things.…

As Brooks says, “When was the last time you were grateful for the spots on a trout?” (Brooks 5)The first small thing I am thankful for is color. Without color life would be so boring to just be in all black and white all the time. Color shows creativity and individuality. Another thing I am grateful for is dishwashers. Dishwashers have made my life so much easier. When dishes are my chore for the week I can just load and unload the dishwasher opposed to having to hand wash every single dish that had been used. Flash drives are also a big life savor. I never thought to be grateful for them before this assignment. I chose now to be grateful because I have all my pictures saved on a flash drive. If I were to lose that I would lose not only all my pictures, but all the memories that go along with them. Being appreciative for the little things can make you so much happier. Once one realizes that they will notice all the little things that make life a whole lot easier and help in the simplest…
