Pop Culture

1. People feel that pop culture is a bane.
- People feel that it is an insult to artistic quality
- They think pop culture serves as a distraction for young people from more important pursuits such as studies and careers.
Elaboration: Pop culture finds its expression in the mass circulation of items from areas such as fashion, music, sport and film. Thus, it is easy for youths to blindly follow what others do or say regardless of the implications that may result.
- Critics have often pointed out that pop culture is often at odds with our more traditional values.

2. People feel that pop culture is a boon.
-Pop culture keeps the arts accessible to the general public.
Elaboration: There is a certain democratic allure in having the most popular ideas and preferences circulate in society.
-It tests our level of maturity as we have to make our own choices.
-Pop culture can be used to convey ideas and stories and lessons to benefit humanity.
-The prevalence of pop culture also requires a level of conversation and sharing of ideas that is healthy for our society.

-Although pop culture may affect people, the beauty of it is that we are still able to have a hand in creating and changing popular culture.
Elaboration: This will ensure that youths, instead of being mere consumers of other peoples ideas and fads will actively shape the pop culture.
