Pollution and Earth

Earth is the home for all living things. It provides them with all the resources they need to survive. Human beings are the dominant power on earth. They use the resources for their needs and benefits. As a result of this, the world faces several environmental problems. These problems have direct effects on the earth and the population on the earth. Some environmental problems are local to particular places while others are worldwide. Of all the environmental problems, air pollution and water pollution are the most serious worldwide now.
Air pollution is the human introduction into the atmosphere of chemicals, particulate matter or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans, other living organisms or damages the environment. Air pollution does not only damage the air, but also affects environments on the earth’s surface and their inhabitants. Plants and animals are harmed by air pollution. Sometimes, it is the pollutants themselves that cause damage, other time pollutants combine and change the resources that plants and animals depend upon such as water, soil, and nutrients.
Human health is affected on a great degree by air pollution. Air pollution increases the risk of various diseases, but respiratory and cardiovascular system are affected the most. The degree of exposure to the polluted air, the type of pollutant determine the reaction of individuals. Air pollution’s effects on health may range somewhere from minor chemical changes to coughing, difficulty breathing, sneezing, worsening of existing respiratory conditions. These effects may even result in premature death. Cancers, birth defects, and genetic mutations can also be seen as the effects of air pollution. Air pollution also affects the environment.
