{text:bookmark-start} Measure O Makes Sense for Wild Wings Residents {text:bookmark-end} Every day driving home and entering Wild Wings development bring smiles to residents’ faces. Living in an upper-middle class, gated, golf community, is a dream finally realized by many. The open space, the manicured greens the welcoming entrance to home await every time they drive into the neighborhood. Wild Wings residents are now faced with losing the golf course, of their dream neighborhood. To maintain the neighborhood, the home values and the lifestyle that include living in golf community; residents of Wild Wings must vote for the passage of Measure O (Hernandez, 2008). Wild Wings development was conceived on developing a rural, high end, gated neighborhood nestled between two golf courses. In 2005 the concept of Brandenburg Properties became a reality. Homes were sold amongst stiff competition as the concept of the development lured many who desired to live in the environment of a golf community. By 2006 owning a home in Wild Wings was quite difficult as all the lots and homes had presold. Wild Wings LLC owned and operated the 9-hole golf course. The golf course was ranked in 2006 and 2007 by the Sacramento Bee as having the best greens in the valley (Sacramento Bee, 2006, 2007). Residents were given notice in the fall of 2008 that Wild Wings LLC was walking away from the golf course. Information given to residents included the offer of the facility to the county of Yolo for one dollar which was refused by the county (Woodland Record Staff, 2008). The golf course owed $510.218 in back taxes to the Wild Wings County Service Area [CSA] for water and sewer costs. Residents rallied support and organized the Save Wild Wings Coalition. Many options were reviewed with both county representatives and representatives of the Home Owners Association [HOA] along with Wild Wings LLC.
