Personal Perspective Paper
In life, we all strive to improve ourselves in different ways through different venues. My personal endeavor resides in the improvement and enhancement toward education that will in turn help me in my career. In searching through many universities and researching my financial options, the University of Phoenix stood out among the rest as the ideal college for pursuing my graduate degree. The institution allows for a variety of degree choices that can suit a wide range of fields and the information provided allowed me to recognize the degree that best fit the career path I wanted for myself. My ambition to complete the Master of Business Administration and Health Care Management (MBA/HCM) program stemmed from the flexibility in balancing work and completing my degree at University of Phoenix online.
Since my senior year in high school I realized early my passion lied in health care and the prospect of helping others. After taking many undergraduate courses in biology, and volunteering at many clinics throughout the greater Seattle area, I realized that the administration side of health care was more suitable than the clinical side. Applying and being accepted to into the Health Information Administration Program at University of Washington remains as one of the best decisions I have made to this day. To break into management at a faster pace, pursuing my MBA/HCM was a necessary means toward becoming a manager and progressing forward to a leadership role. In talking with upper management at my facility, they view a master’s degree as crucial for understanding the essential management skills needed to function effectively in health care administration. For health care specifically, I believe that employers are more attracted to the leadership ability, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking skills of a person with a MBA/HCM or a Master of Health Administration.
