On Pursuing a MBA
From a personal perspective, the idea of pursuing and completing a MBA is an arduous task to imagine. A person must have drive and determination even to begin such a program. One hope that I have is to impart the motivations that have lead me to this point in time. My intentions are to provide insight as to the reasons why I have started this MBA program, but also to highlight what the future holds when the MBA program has been completed.
Deciding to pursue my MBA in Marketing was not an easy decision. Over the past five years, since graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I have consciously avoided going back for my MBA for fear of being overwhelmed, as I had been during my undergraduate program. It was a very stressful period that, at the end of the day, left me with very little personal and family time. It was extremely difficult working in a very demanding job that consumed 50-plus hours a week while additionally trying to balance school and a growing family. Obtaining my undergraduate degree was not a pleasant experience as I would have hoped.
Moving forward has always been a desire and goal of mine. My most significant desire and goal has always been to branch out on my own and pursue private industry. Knowing that this goal will not be easy, gaining a higher education where I may learn and understand business will be an essential part in attaining that goal. I believe that in order to be successful in any business, one must first have the understanding and ability to sustain that business. This is one of the major reasons as to why I am pursuing my MBA.
