Personal Narrative: My First Step Dad
About a year ago, my parents started fighting, usually over small thing, like where the kids were. But then it got a little more intense, like one time my parents went next door to hang out with the other adults when my mom asked for gummy bears. My neighbors husband immediately got up and went straight outside. About a half an hour later he came back in holding multiple bags of gummy bears, and that’s when it started. That's when my step dad got really red and angry, and then stormed out the door. it seemed he always overreacts every time some guy gave her something.
There was another time when all of my family went to our friends house. Me and the other kids were inside playing video games, and the adults were outside around the fire.

after that was over we left to go back home.
When my mom, me, brothers, and my sister got home mom stormed down to her room and, slammed the door. When we all went to bed all we could hear was them yelling.
The next day everything was fine mom was in a better mood. And my stepdad was at my grandparents away from my mother. Another thing that happened was when my parents were at the same friends house. They were talking and my step dad obviously said something that pissed my mother off so she left and went for a ride with her friend. About an half hour later they returned my mom left my dad alone for the rest of the night. After that the family occasionally stopped doing fun stuff like poker on friday night or family movie night. And that is what started my parents divorce.
Now my mom is with a new guy and this one treats her right and doesn’t yell at her. This guy is nice and cool and knows how to deal with all of us kids and all our animals. This guy makes my mother feel good and makes her happy, And this makes all us of happy because when my mothers happy everyone’s happy. With this new guy in the house everyone seems a little

As a kid, it could be the first time you hear your parents fight, and all of a sudden you are imagining divorce, seeing your family split up, and only getting to see Dad on the weekends. Growing up, though, we learn that fights are completely natural parts of any healthy relationship, and cannot be avoided. That does not make the first time any less worrisome, or dramatic.…

My mom never screamed at me before and when she screamed he blamed me for letting him go outside without his permission. One sunny day, we were remodeling the living room so it can be more babyproof now that my brother was taller and could walk and run perfectly. We left the door open because it was too cold in the living room. We were moving the couch as we told Andres to move over so we don’t locate the couch on his feet. We were so busy moving the furniture that we totally forgot the baby of the family was walking towards the door. When we put the couch in our desired spot, we noticed Andres walking toward the street. We ran after him as quickly as we could as we saw a car moving in Andres’s direction. My dad sprinted like a track and field athlete towards his baby and caught him right in time. All of a sudden, my mom turned to me and blamed me for this incident. I felt like my side of the story wasn’t considered when I explained she told me to help her with the couch and it was really Andres’s fault. She couldn’t believe I was blaming a baby so she sent me to my room. I ran to my room crying, feeling as if Andres was the favorite child and I wished that I never had a…

It is a beautiful day in Sacramento, California and I am just getting lunch at “Mrs. Castillo’s home for Orphans” while I was eating string cheese and carrots with my best friend Elijah, my other friend Allie ran into the cafeteria and said “Hey! Samara! I have something for you, from Mrs. Castillo! After she was done sprinting, she handed me a note that said “Mrs. Castillo’s office, and I looked at the bottom and I saw something circled… and it said NOW!!! In all capitals. I knew that I did something wrong, I just knew it! I was so nervous I felt like I was going to throw up. As soon as I got up to the door I knocked, and heard her say “Come in my dear.” I walked in the door, and as soon as I got in there she turned around…

    Im Not Afraid

I was only ten at the time, an only child living with my mom and dad. My parents were happily married for a long time. We would spend a lot of time together, bonding, and sharing laughs. I was told many stories from my parents experienced and loved every second of it. We were one happy family, until something changed dramatically. When the sun was not shining the house would rattle from the shouting and screaming back and forth between my parents. I never knew exactly what they were fighting about or even what they were saying half the time – I would hide in my cupboard, on the floor with my head between my knees and try block out the sound - but I could feel that there was a lot of anger as well as tension in our house when with the blaring voices I could hear from my bedroom. “I’m not afraid” is what I would constantly say to myself, every day.…

After a couple years of living with my dad and rarely seeing my mom because of the things that she had done, I became that girl with the stepmother and new family that on the outside looked like the “normal” family that I had always wanted. For a while it was everything that I had thought it would be. We went on family vacations; we could go to family events without getting into arguments with the other side of the family; we were even that dorky family that had a weekly family game night to stay close to each other. Things in the family started to change though when my father got a new job that was located in Iowa and we stayed behind in Michigan. Our “normal” family was gone and so was the nice stepmom that I had come to know and love. Everything had…

    The Concept of Honesty

I am very familiar with this situation as it happens almost weekly at my house. Whenever my mom is getting ready for a party or get-together, whatever it may be, she will undoubtedly ask my father for his opinion. And he gives it to her - one hundred percent honest one hundred percent of the time. Sometimes she will take his opinion and just go with it, other times she gets upset and she argues with him, a lot. I often ask him why he does not just lie to appease her, make her happy so that he no longer has to hear her yell at him. His answer is always the same: “That wouldn’t be very honest of me, would it?”…

I grew up like any average girl, attended a good preschool, participated in sports and had good friends and a good community surrounding me. My parents were always in a good mood with each other and shared the joy of raising their children together. I have few memories of the bad times my parents had or hearing them argue. The worst memory I recall is walking into the living room one early morning and my mother looking at me and saying "It's time you need to know that I am leaving your father". My immediate reaction was a natural instinct for a teenager, which was to blame myself. Suddenly, I was now the minority at school because the majority of my peers still had both parents in a relationship…

    Old House Memories

When my stepfather would decide that he didn’t want to argue anymore, some nights he would fight my mom. It never would do her any good to try and fight back because he was always bigger and stronger, and with me being a little girl there was nothing I could do. He would even choke her sometimes until she was unconscious. I still remember her in the little green terry cloth dress lying beside the heater in the living room. He would even unplug the telephones so emergency calls couldn’t be made. After my mom would wake up hearing him threaten to kill her if she leaves, the only thing left to do would be to go to bed. On a specific night my mom and stepdad got into an altercation. After it was over he stormed out of the house locking the doors and the windows from the outside, so we couldn’t escape. My mom took her fist and bust through the glass, getting her and I out. We ran from the house an called the police.…

    Parents; My Mom and Dad

My dad has made major improvements in himself since I was born. It is almost like watching me grow made him grow, too. Because of my dads' hard lifestyle, and the way he was abused by my grandparents, he had a great deal of built up anger. He was always on edge and the littlest things set him off. He was as stubborn as a mule, with an attitude to go along with it. He did not further his education after high school; he instead went into the army. He drinks on a daily basis, has sixteen tattoos, and curses like a sailor. My mom on the other hand, has barely changed since I was little. Her house has always been a dictatorship; things run how she wants, in her way, and in her time. If you do not agree, she does not care. If I smart off, I get a look. If I do it again, I get a smack in the face. She had been trying to finish college since I was little, because of being a single parent and having to take breaks, it was complicated for her to do. She speaks like an educated adult, barely uses fowl language, rarely drinks, and has absolutely no tattoos.…

I love my mom. And I love my dad. Though they're so different, and its easier to talk about important stuff with my mom. She's always been there for me. To pick me up after school, dry my tears that fell over a stupid boy called Jamie, do my hair, teach me how to tie my shoelaces, and many more things. But don't get me wrong, my dad has always been there also, though in another way. He was more the kind that watched me learn how to tie my shoelaces and then he would say some good comment on how to improve my tying or tell me how nice I looked after mom and I had shopped new clothes for me.…

After about 18 years, my father, his two sisters and two brothers, along with their parents built a new house some distance away from their extended family’s. This new house allowed more space for the members of the family and all lived peacefully. After some time, the older siblings got married and now was my father’s turn. He and my mother got love married in July, 1995. The in-laws got along well.…
