Information about the case: In this particular case, the complaint stated that two special education teachers mishandled money collected from students and parents that were to be used for CBI (Community Based Instruction) trips. The educator admitted to collecting and disbursing money and did not initially turn it in to the bookkeeper. There were also no records kept of the money that was collected or spent. Also, the educators admitted that they confused money with personal accounts. In reviewing the case, I think additional information would be useful, such as knowing if the parents were aware of how the funds were being utilized (covering costs that typically came out of pocket) or if the teachers were given permission by the parents to hold onto the money to use for future CBI trips.…
