What do you do to have fun? Is it exhilarating? Do you get an adrenaline rush every time you do it? Well if you don’t get any of these feelings then your probly not playing paintball. It is a madhouse from the get-go. Paintballs begin popping every which way, zipping by as players dash from one protective plywood bunker to another. Some players have set their guns, which use compressed air, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen to propel the paintballs, with an automatic setting on their electronic board, laying down a spray of cover fire with a sinister Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! , that doesn’t end until the game ends.
Crouched behind a plywood bunker, you can hear and feel the, Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! , of projectiles striking just inches from your face. So this, you think to yourself, is what it’s like to get shot at.
Thoughts turn entirely toward staying out of the way. At this point you are really thinking that your life just might end in a few seconds.
The bunker isn’t that big. It can barely protect one person. When two people converge on it, someone is going to get exposed. That turns out to be you. Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Your left shoulder catches fire, or at least feels as though it’s in flames. It’s like someone just whacked you with a hot poker. The sting fades quickly, replaced by a dull throbbing. You then at that point realize that you didn’t perish. You rub the spot, examine the impressive welt, you have been branded, rudely initiated into paintball, a peculiar pastime that is growing in popularity as well as controversy. Then with a boost of adrenaline you promptly return fire on your attacker, forcing him to retreat. Paintball is an adrenalin rush of a sport if there ever was one.
Your teammate and you decide to chase your attackers down and exact revenge. You charge after them firing continually, and then you realize that you have run out of paintballs. You quickly drop on one knee, scanning the area for your prey or their teammates, and you...
