Our Song- Taylor Swift
“Our Song”-Taylor Swift It all began freshman year of 2007, and the annual high school talent show was coming up. Poor little T Swift had no idea what to do, so she decided she’d write a cute little song about her relationship at the time, and then the pop country hit “Our Song” came to be. Taylor Swift had no intentions of this make shift song becoming anything special rather then something up beat and relatable to her fellow classmates, but then the exact opposite happened. When producing her album. Taylor insisted “Our Song” to be included in it while the producers thought different, when asked why, Taylor stated,” It has a certain magic in it, like its bouncing.” Her new song topped all the charts, going platinum in Canada and triple platinum in the US, the song was an unpredicted hit. You can say that the song is catchy, up lifting, or just one of those songs you can’t resist, and that was the reason for its success. But I feel like it’s a different reason, I think the song blew up because it had a deeper meaning then just a catchy beat, People can relate and that’s the reason why I think it topped the charts. I could copy and paste the whole song, but instead I’ll give you a couple of examples that I feel stick out. Here’s her first verse “I was riding shotgun, With my hair undone, In the front seat of his car, He's got a one-hand feel, On the steering wheel, The other on my heart, I look around, turn the radio down, He says, "Baby is something wrong?", I say, "Nothing,, I was just thinking, How we don't have a song", And he says…” I feel like any girl could relate to her moment, just picturing themselves chilling in the car with their boo, being a typical girlfriend, over thinking every little detail such as not having “a song” to describe their relationship. The end of this verse leads into the chorus, which flows into my second example. “Our song is the slamming screen door, Sneakin' out late, tapping on your window, When we're on the
