ABSTRACT

Apple has, since its inception considered to be a leader in ‘educational thought’, bringing innovative solutions to the classroom worldwide. Apple remains committed to this core market. Apple’s innovative approach to the learning environment and easy to learn platform suggest that it is the company which can develop a product to marry UMPC technology and online content stores to fill a vital need in the current market.

As we introduce our new Apple product and concept, let’s take a look at Apple’s past. How did we get here and where are we going? This is important to understand because the product we have developed will change the computer as we know it today. Much like the first Apple product changed the world years ago, our new product will evolve the traditional PC/desktop/laptop to the to a computer for the 21st century. Imaging integrating the individual and the computer!

When we think of Apple Computer today, it’s hard to believe that the Company was started by two twenty-something college dropouts. But that’s exactly what happened when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak started Apple out of Jobs family’s garage on Aprils Fools Day 1976 (Yoffie & Wang, 2002).

With Wozniak’s technical expertise and Jobs’ vision, they would go on to develop the world’s first easy to use personal computer that Jobs predicted would revolutionize the computing industry. With the Apple II they did just that. Sales of the Apple II soared, the company went public and Jobs and Wozniak become overnight millionaires.
