Oh, How I’ve Changed
My father was born and raised in Trumbull, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm way outside of town. Every day he had to feed, clean, and take care of all the farm animals. My grandfather was strong and intimidating, so if something was not done right there would be hell to pay. My dad was a hard worker and he still is. He has come so far from living in a tiny shack with eight other people to living in a beautiful house with his wife and two kids. Today my dad is very successful that is why -I believe- he is tough on my brother and me. We have a stricter life then most teenagers do; after my homework is finished, I am responsible for making dinner, cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming the floors, doing laundry, and cleaning up after our three month old puppy. This does not leave enough time for hanging out with friends. I still hate doing all that work, and most of the time think about how unfair it is. But other times, I realize that my father is just trying to help me have a successful life later on in the future. I have become this hard working, responsible, teenage girl who knows what is expected of her. I plan on having a big career, and I know that I am one step closer because of my father.
My dad was married before he and my mother exchanged vows. In that past relationship he had a daughter, and when his ex-wife and he decided to get a divorce his daughter went with him. After my father and mother got married and my brother Taylor and I were born, his daughter, Heather, came to live with us. At first we were all really close and honest with each other. When I was at the age of eleven, Heather was seventeen and that is when our happy family came crumbling down for a while. Heather’s job was to do all the chores that I do now.
