A not so “jolly” Christmas parade

Like most people who do things they are not supposed to, I knew there was a possibility things would not go as planned. But still, I chose to go through with the scandal. On Thursday evening, a close friend of mine named Enrique, invited me along to go to a Christmas parade held in downtown Aguadilla. Alexis y Fido were to perform there along with other artists. I really wanted to go, but it was during school hours and I knew if I asked my parents they would not allow me to go. So what was I to do?
Enrique and I conjured up a plan. To start, I was to tell my dad I was going on the bus which came earlier, and that it was not necessary for him to take me to school the next day as he usually did. It was more than likely that if I rode the bus, so did my younger brother. However, that day he decided no too; which was both a blessing and a curse. I did not want my brother to know I was going to the parade with Enrique because I did not want to hear his brotherly crap. So as I walked to the bus stop on Friday morning, I stopped at the bakery and waited on Enrique to pick me up. After getting in the car, we were on the way to pick up his two friends. “RRRinnng RRRinnnnng”, it was my dad calling me to see where I was. I had forgotten to tell him I was going on the bus like I was supposed to. By this point I was real nervous, so I called my best friend Rebecca so she could also come with us. She was already in school so we could not just pick her up. See, my school was a federal school and unless you were signed out by apparent there was no way of getting out. Legally that is. I begged her to jump the fence so she could come with me. Her mother had driven her to school and several teachers had already seen her, so she was reluctant to come with us.
