Nino Rota was born December 3, 1911 in Milan, Italy. He was born into a musical family. At the age of eight NiƱo was the first student who studied at a conservatory under the mastery of Ildebrando Pizzetti. After is a study at the conservatory, Nino was encouraged to immigrate to The United States. Before he left for America he received a composition at the Academia di S Cecilia. While residing in The United States, he received a scholarship to Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, PA , he took classes in orchestra. After attending music school and receiving his degree Nino returned to Milan and wrote a thesis on his favorite composer Gioseffo Zarlino.

Several years later Nino decided to take a degree in arts at Milan University. After his collegiate life, Nino decided to teach at Bari Conservatory as a teacher of harmony and composition. In the 1940s, Nino's career was in its prime, he was doing many film scores such as, A Midsummer Night's Dream (1964), Romeo & Juliet (1968), and best of all The Godfather (1972). Nino has won many awards for these film scores such as, Golden Globes, Academy Awards, and a BAFTA .

As I listened to Nino's music there was certain uniqueness about it. It seemed very peace, and yet it had a great meaning pertaining to the plot line of the movies. Nino Rota will continue to be remembered for his legendary film and opera work.
