Narcissistic Personality Disorder

In this globalization era, people tend to be psycho due to some reasons and they are no longer a normal human being. Being psycho is one of the common things that people do and even positive changes can create some level of psycho. Accordingly, being psycho is also known as psychological disorders in the usual sense of the word. Psychological disorders are mental health disorders. Some common examples include anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, personality disorders and behavioral disorders. In addition, psychological disorders are often treated by a psychologist or psychiatrist. In my case, I would like to distinguish psychological disorder in term of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and The American Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders list it as a personality disorder. Many people have characteristics of narcissists, as well as other personality disorders, and that is part of being a living creature. Consequently, Narcissistic Personality Disorder basically means a big feeling of loving oneself and where the person has a hyper sense of self-importance and finds that interpersonal relationships difficult because they tend to exploit others without sympathy. Furthermore, to the narcissist the world and other people exist only to verify his or her superiority and to cater to all his or her needs. The disorder is characterized by a lack of regard or empathy for others, selfishness, and an unrealistic sense of self-entitlement in all situations (West & Sheldon, 1988). Thus, people with narcissistic personality disorder have an unrealistic, inflated sense of their own importance (Kohut, 1966, 1971).

In the first place, a very basic question that crosses out from our mind is “What is Narcissistic Personality Disorder?” According to DSM-IV, NPD theoretically means a pattern of self-centered or egotistical behavior that shows up in thinking and behavior in a lot of different situations and activities.
