My Essay on the Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a novel written by Suzanne Collins. Katniss Everdeen is a 16 year old girl and she is chosen to be a 'tribute' for the Hunger Games. She and another tribute, Peeta Mellark, and together they must fight to the death with 22 other Tributes from the other districts on live TV. Things become heated when Peeta and Katniss find out that they like one another but in the end only one out of the twenty four can survive. During the hunger games there was a switch up and two people from the same district could win. In the end Peete and Katniss won.

Katniss in the novel is stubborn, short tempered and determined. Peeta is charming, a quick thinker and caring. But they both are self-sacrificing, true hearted and strong willed. The main problem in the novel is that the kids in the Hunger Games have to fight to the death, so they can win the games, and get home to their district. Once they win, you get fame, better food, and more opportunities. Many kids were not success in finding food and a place to sleep without getting killed.

There was a lot of suspense such as if Katniss was going to win the Hunger Games. Another sign of suspense is if Katniss was going to sacrifice Rue or if Peeta was going to die of sickness. The climax is how Katniss and Peeta outlasted out of the other tributes, and how they threaten suicide rather than fight one another after a rule change turns them from enemies into allies. On page 84 the Hunger Games had just began. Katniss was looking through the bag that she grabbed while she ran from getting killed. Then she was wondering how she was going to get water because she already had passed a lake. And she also was looking for somewhere to sleep, without getting killed. I would say this page does contribute to the suspense because people started dying already. Throughout the novel Katniss had demonstrated her ability to hunt in order to survive. Another one could be how Peete had exceled at the camouflage

One quality I love about Katniss is her unselfishness. She displayed this throughout the first two parts. More importable, she demonstrated in the beginning. I saw at the beginning she had a lot on her plate and is the oldest. She volunteer to tribute for her sister, and she thought through “But in District 12, where the word tribute is pretty much synonymous with the word corpse, volunteers…

The theme of this book is trust and loyalty. This theme connects to the real world today for me, tohigh school. High school has many people sometimes you do not know who you can trust, but your real friends are always going to support you. The plot line of this story is non-linear beacause Katniss has a lot of flashbacks in the book. Katniss is a fighter but she also loves so many people that are in her life, she would give her kife for theirs.“Violent. Distrustful. Manipulative. Deadly.”This qoute displays that Katniss is tough but when she says this when talks about how wonderful and anmazing Peeta thinks she is but tells herself that is who she reallly is.…

One of the contributing factors to Katniss’ continued survival within The Hunger Games was her alliance and friendship with Rue. When sitting up in the tree, Katniss was, for the first time, aided by Rue. If it was not for her, she would never have noticed the nest of the deadly Trackerjackers perched high upon the branches of her refuge. This revelation lead in turn to her escape and the retrieval of the bow which later on in the games saved her life several times. “Just this one time, I let you go. For the little girl.” Also this Quote made by Thresh highlights the fact that Rue, even in death was an invaluable ally to her, and in turn enabled Katniss to see Prim again.…
