Part 1
The bird that I am going to use for this example was picked by my son and is the Bald Eagle. The average weight for a male Bald Eagle is 12 pounds. Using the formula L = 2.43 * W^0.3326 we would be able to find out the wing span of a 12 pound American Bald Eagle male.
L = 2.43 * (12)^0.3326
L = 2.43 * 2.2853
L = 5.55 feet
With this equation we can see that a male Bald Eagle with an average weight of 12 pounds has an approximate wing span of 5.55 feet.
Part 2
The type of job that I chose for this part is cutting the grass. Cutting my grass once a week takes me about 45 minutes to complete. Joe takes 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete this same task since he is lazy and doesn’t like to cut the grass. With this formula T = (AB)/(A + B), with A being my time and B being Joe’s time, we can determine how long it would take both of us to complete this task.
A = 45 minutes
B = 135 minutes
T = (45 * 135)/(45 + 135)
T = 6075/180
T = 33.75 minutes
According to the formula, it would take both of us working together, 33.75 minutes to cut my grass. Of course I would be doing most of the work.
