1.0 Executive Summary

A complex of existing agricultural barns is to be converted into a National Park Visitor centre as part of a rural diversification scheme. The proposal is to include, a cafeteria along with associated workshops and offices. The client anticipates that some of the office and workshop areas will be occupied by different small business.

The aim of this report is to ensure that the level of fire safety performance in the existing building is made no worse with the conversion to a National Park Visitor centre. To ensure that the conversion complies with the requirements of Approved Document B with reference to parts B1 to B5. Reference will also be made to BS5588 Part 8, Codes of practice for Means of Escape for Disabled People and also the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
