Mini-Clinic Interview

4. Evaluate your two goals. (Did you meet them? Explain the reason for meeting or not meeting these goals?)
Reflecting on today’s community experience, I would state that I did meet the two goals I set for myself - Enhancing my communication skills and addressing health assessments. While I hoped for more interaction for the two-hour period, one cannot predict whether the number of individuals who will show up for the Mini-Clinic. Related to enhancing my communication, I did work on my communication with the individuals, but it did not stand as the communication I expected. I appreciate that rather than running the Mini-Clinic, yourself, you asked the three of us to run it, which gave us more of a leadership role. Although you were there to answer any questions we could not answer, you gave us the independence to make decisions. I found that highly valuable, as we will not always have a teacher/preceptor telling us what we need to do next – the correct action. The only component that I could use information on, but that we discussed during the experience, would be how in depth a nurse should go on a basic health screening. Because we were not at a hospital, the individuals did not come to us for a specific health concern. Rather, they simply wanted to assist us in our learning and perceive their health status. While we could answer questions, we could not perform certain skills, such as giving medication. From what I understand, a health screening stands more as a checkpoint to perceive how an individual’s health care plan is working and whether referrals to specific doctors are
