Mecury Seven Astronauts, Nasa & Hurricanes

Space exploration is a major key not only for the United States, but for everyone across the globe. Space exploration helps America and countries world wide to discover new items and hidden ones. Without this special opportunity we would not only not know the things we now know about Earth and our atmosphere, but we would also have no space explorers- otherwise known as astronauts. According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) official website, seven men in April of 1959 were chosen by themselves (NASA) to be astronauts after multiple exams that tested each man mentally and physically. The men were named and introduced as the Mercury Seven and would begin the road for human spaceflight and exploration.

The seven men from the day it was announced that they would go into space became public figures in the eyes of America and the rest of the world. At the top of the list of the men who were chosen was the commander in charge, Malcolm Scott Carpenter.

To make a long history brief, Malcolm Carpenter was born in May of 1925 in Colorado and remained there until after his high school graduation in 1943. After graduating he then decided to enroll in the Navy's V-5 flight training program at the University of Colorado. The program was able to give potential pilots advanced academic training while at a University but receiving basic experience in aircraft as well. Carpenter also trained in California and Iowa giving him about two years of experience before the program was shut down after World War II ended. Carpenter then joined the Navy and trained for six months before he was given his first assignment of many that would come that took him across America. After three years of multiple assignments, he then joined the Navy Test Pilot School (NATC). He was able to test many different types of aircrafts during and after his graduation from the school.
