Marketing as an art or a science has always been arguable topic. Science can be stated as logical body of information. It compiles fact and accuracy. Art is skill and intellectual activity. It is knowledge of practice. Art is application of a set of rules to practice that is focused towards good result. Since marketing being more focused towards volume of sales rather than volume of information; I believe marketing is an art.

The prosperity of marketing depends upon the ability of marketer or salesman and not on marketing rules. The person who has vast knowledge about certain product may not be able to sell more and may not be able to provide satisfaction to consumer. But the person who has skill and intelligence of serving costumers and understanding situation undoubtedly will be able to make more sales. The marketer adjusts or tackles the situation, aiming to get more success. Science at the other hand is merely information which could be important for knowledge but not for customer’s attention.
