Nacho Duato uses several motifs in Jardi Tancat to establish intent in his work. His work is based on Catalonian folk tales collected and sung by Maria Del Mar Bonet, to express the poor Catalonian people’s communal hardships, struggles and desperation as they cyclically farm the land. Duato has portrayed this intent through many motifs such as, curved lines and gestural action motifs. He has then manipulated these motifs through each section to unify the work as a whole.…

I really enjoyed watching the Maria Martinez short film. Prior to this movie, I never really thought about what the Natives and people back in history used to make pottery. After watching this film, I learned how creative the Native Americans actually were. I found the method that Maria used to make pottery very interesting. It was very cool to see her gather her own clay from nature and mix it with red and white sand. She then poured water into a pool of clay and wedged it together very delicately. It was so fascinating to see how Maria and her son fired their pottery. As they stacked their ceramic pieces in a pit, they used metal to trap the air and keep the heat in. This complicated process looked so easy to Maria and her brother. They had to use intensive care when dealing with the firing, and it was always a gamble for them on how their pots would turn out. I was very surprised when their red clay pots turned black after the firing. You could just tell how experienced the two of them were and how passionate they both felt about ceramics. Maria took great pride in the spirits and was always thanking them. She looked to nature for help and always found her tools in the environment. She is very creative when it comes to decorating and uses so many unique techniques. At age 85, it is very impressive to see Maria kneeled down on the ground and kneading her clay so quickly. She is extremely gifted in the arts and has a true talent for making pottery. I thought it was very interesting when she told us that she did not learn how to make clay form her mother, it was her aunt instead that taught and influenced her. I think it is very neat how Maria did not have much schooling and her pottery today is so famous and sold for millions of dollars.…

I have 2 pets, one is a Maltese dog named Buttons and a kitty my family and I rescued named Greenie. I started my shift at 7:15 am. My work clothes are comfortable and unrestrictive; my footwear is flat, sensible and offers protection to my feet and ankles. When I arrive to the service user’s home, I knock on the door and wait to be let in either by one of the service user’s or by a work colleague. Once inside I greet the service user, if they are awake. I then head to the sleep in room, to start verbal handover with my work colleague. After the 15 minute handover, I then check and sign the handover sheet. Check the on call rota, should there be an incident or or accident. Also check the communication book and also check any money and medication, then checking the activity planner. Once the service user wakes, we say hello to each other, and chat for a short period. I encourage them to start their personal care. After, I ask them if they need any support with getting dressed and preparing breakast. The time is now 8:00 so I administrer the morning medication. I always wash my hands before handling food or medication and after assisting with any personal care. After the service user has had their breakfast. I support them with the washing up. I will then encourage the service user to clean their property. I will then support the indiviual in safely cleaning, all ares with correct products. After this I consult with the service user, about their activity plan for the day, if the service user decided to go into town. I ask them how they would prefer to travel, by bus or by personal car.…

National rivalry -The Scramble for Africa (also known as the Race for Africa or Partition of Africa) was the invasion, occupation, colonization, and annexation of African territory by European powers during the New Imperialism period between 1881 and 1914. The Berlin Conference of 1884, which regulated European colonization and trade in Africa, is often cited as a convenient starting point. Consequent to the political and economic rivalries among the European empires, in the last quarter of the 19th century, the partitioning of Africa was how the Europeans avoided warring amongst themselves over Africa. The last 59 years of the 19th century saw the transition from "informal imperialism" (hegemony) by military influence and economic dominance, to the direct rule of colonies.…
