Senior management at Hedland Home Hardware & Garden [HHH] consists of three managers. The owner/operator of HHH oversees the broad running issues of the store. Then there are two managers that oversee the store running issues of the two sheds: the Retail Manager and the Trade Manager.
The critical OHS management role for the:
ï‚§ Owner/Operator is to firstly commit to addressing OHS into their Business Plan;
ï‚§ then provide leadership and the time for consultation so that all three managers come to a common understanding of what exactly are their responsibilities in providing a safe working environment;
ï‚§ and lastly, make available the time for employees to meet, and required resources so that an effective OHSMS can be put into place and maintained continuously.
In a nutshell, management have a duty of care to commit, lead, consult, liaise and make available resources so that all persons in the HHH environment have a common understanding of and commit to providing a safe working environment.
