If we consider logic to be the means in which we draw conclusions from various resources. Then I think logic plays an important role in critical thinking as they function together. More importantly logic plays a significant role in how we communicate our thoughts. When we are tasked with expressing our ideas or communicating to someone about a specific topic the words we use and how we use them will make that first impression or set that mood. Therefore, it becomes important to speak logically or in a manner that conveys our message in the way we want it to be understood.
One personal experience relative to this was when I made a decision in my career within the hotel industry to move from risk management and into rooms operation. My manager at the time wanted to see me make this transition as he felt my customer service skills would better serve our organization if I were always directly in front of our customers at the front desk. Part of his influencing me to make this change was to describe this roll in a positive light with great financial benefits associated with it.
My perception of this new job was a positive one because I worked directly with the person whose position I would soon take due their promotion. When the time came I made the decision to take on this new management role in the front office as it did at first appeal to me. I soon realized that my perception of the job was not the reality of it. The position demanded too much of my time at work which left me with little room to maintain a healthy balance between work and life as I had in my role as a risk manager.
When I made the decision to take on this new role my original perception of what was going on was that while I knew it would demand a little more of my time I did not realize it would demand as much as it did. While the previous individual in this role did put in a lot of time I thought is was by choice because they were often seen as a workaholic. I soon learned...
