Onomatopoeia
The formation or use of words such as buzz or murmur that imitate the sounds

Dramatic irony
When the audience knows something the character does not

Metaphor
a word or phrase that ordinarily designates one thing but is used to represent something else

Allegory
A symbolic representation

Pun
If u don't know this one u're in trouble..A play on words

Omniscient narrator
A godlike perspective in which you look into the minds of the characters

Foreshadowing
When the narrator gives the reader hints predicting what will happen

Simile
Comparing two unlike things using like or as

Symbolism
The use of one object to represent another

Satire
A work that uses ridicule and humor to criticize

Dramatic foil
When the character expects one thing and gets another- a contradiction of the character's expectations

Allusion
Referring to something historical, mythical or biblical its used to make something more understood

Epiphany
A sudden revelation of truth inspired by a seemingly trivial incident.
