Life

Poems are for expressing ones thoughts. In the poem ‘The Road not Taken’ by Robert Frost and ‘All the Worlds a Stage’ by William Shakespeare, they all talked about one important idea: Life, and our parts in it.
‘The Road not Taken’ was written by Robert Frost in 1915. The whole poem is an extended metaphor, where Frost describes a path in the woods that is directly comparable to a major decision in life. In the poem, the ‘narrator’ is a traveler. ‘Two roads diverged in a yellow wood/ and sorry I could not travel both’ literally, these two lines shows that the traveler is traveling in the woods; he faces a split road, where he needs to make a choice. He is unable to take both paths at once and must make a decision which way he would like to go or how to live his life. This is like our cross points in life.
Sometimes the choices may be similar, sometimes they may look different. ‘It was grassy and wanted wear/ though as for that, the passing there had worn them really about the same’, in the poem, the traveler took the one that was less traveled. From the line ‘And that has made all the difference’ we could see, that a decision in life is very important, they may affect and change your whole life. Following others paths may seem easy travel, but you may not end up where you really want to be, while walking your own path can lead you to regrets, regretting why you didn’t choose the easy way like others. Although life is a struggle to make the decision of which road to take, but a choice must be made, the path that one takes or chooses makes them the person they are today, and for the rest of their lives.

‘All the Worlds a Stage’ was written by William Shakespeare, it is a scene from As You like It. This poem is also a metaphor, the title ‘All the Worlds a Stage’ shows Shakespeare’s view point towards life, saying that the world is just a big stage, and all of us are just actors running on and off it.
