Critical thinking is the art of raising what is subconscious in our reasoning to the level of conscious recognition. It is the art of taking control of our thinking processes so as to understand the pathway and inputs that our thinking employs. Critical thinkers understand the mechanics of reasoning (thinking). They use this understanding to manage the unconscious influences that contribute to their decision-making processes. By taking charge of the thinking process, critical thinkers develop an understanding of what they do not know about a particular subject, and make better decisions as a result. Critical thinking skills are the core of active learning when dealing with critical thinking. Critical and creative thinking enables us to learn actively to a question, process, and also creates facts and ideas that we may encounter. This will help us increase our ability to perform a thinking process. Critical thinking skills is not something we got as a baby it’s a learned skilled. For example I ran track and field and the more I ran and practiced the better I became. Carol Carter stated that we can produce knowledge rather than just reproducing it. The interactions of newly learned information with what you already know will create new knowledge and can be applied to different situations (Careter, 2000). (Careter 2000)
