Based upon the “Leadership in Action” simulation which is about a company called Smith and Falmouth that is considered a tele-shopping and mail order network, which is being damaged by their S & F online and e tailing division that was added six months ago. After viewing and analyzing the simulation I will describe the different methods of control of the organization culture, recommend a restructuring strategy that would improve the culture and empower employees, describe which management practices would be most effective, and explain how the new size and structure could affect the organization, individuals, groups, teams, and the organization’s future.
According to Robbins and Judge, 2007 organizational culture refers to a system of shared meaning held by members that distinguishes the organization from other organizations. (p.573) S&F is currently resembles the Matrix Structure, which means that a company creates dual lines of authority and combines functional and product departmentalization. Currently S&F is divided amongst the following divisions: marketing team, web development team, and a logistic team. In this simulation the project manager James Argyle is responsible for handling the web operations department who handles the online sales, and online payments. Next is the logistic manager Brian Korver who works closely with the Adam Searle the marketing The logistic team is in charge of all the orders, customer support, and delivery operations and must report all the order fulfillments status to the marketing manager. The marketing manager is in charge of coordinating project lines, marketing budgets, and all promotional items. An organizations first priority should be focused around success.
