1. What is leadership?
The word leadership is one of the world’s oldest concepts. In earlier times, leadership was meaning “head of state”, military commander, principles, proconsul, chief, or king. Today it had changed and more related to business issues.
Many leadership approaches had been come up with over last century. There are a lot of leadership theory that depend on whether leaders’ traits, characteristics of behavior, or contingencies variables of relationship between leaders and followers. Finally most of scholars agreed to one definition of leadership that “the leadership is the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of a vision or set goals . Actually, the main point of leadership is to meet effectively group needs. Nowadays, effective leadership is commonly viewed as central to organizational success.
2. Relation between leadership and corporate culture.
Every business organization wants to gain shareholders’ value by coping with rapid changes in environment by using individuals’ knowledge, ability, skills, and experiences. But as Patrick Dixon cited in his lecture, “Nobody thinks or intends to gain shareholders value or maximize bottom-line when he or he gets up from bed” , they just work for making their better life, improving their life quality. Consequently, leader is the one who can tie in the exact same point of reciprocal’s expected, and know the way that can inspire and guide individuals’ behavior and attitudes and influence employees’ performance in order to attain organization goals....
