In 30 years time, I see myself as the general manager of one of the major insurance companies in Bahrain.

In order to achieve my goal, I should do the following:

1. set a specific goal, which is in my case, to be a General manager.
2. Give my goal a deadline, 30 years.
3. Positive, towards, motivation, can work like magic in motivating me to achieve my goal, so instead of saying I have to be a general manager because I hate my current job. I should say: I want to be a general manager for the pay power, to gain authority (hire + fire + promote), prestige and for the sense of personal accomplishment.
4. I should also do my job well (work hard in my current job).
5. Do my homework, find out what other managers do, read basic managerial and leadership books and articles.
6. Develop people skill, I should learn how people think and react, and learn how to influence their behaviour.
7. There are two paths to be a general manager, 1. to join the insurance company, now and start from the bottom of the ladder and get promoted. 2. to stay at the current job and make contacts then get promoted.
8. If I assume that I joined the insurance company now, I would show initiative, by planning and volunteering to help the boss.
9. If I followed the second path, I would, volunteer at one of the local non-profit organizations, this would expose me to others who may hire me or recommend their boss to hire me.
10. Most importantly, I should study and specialise in management and leadership and take as much business courses as I can.
