The Fantastic Four observe that KFF is experiencing a dilemma managing the shelf life, purchasing, and tracking of inventory. Due to the large selection of product offerings, Kathy has become overwhelmed, and should implement an automated inventory control system to reduce her inventory loss through waste, and bulk ordering of perishable items.
Kathy can determine if more of the same items should be purchased.
Kudler can use the new inventory system to place orders with vendors through electronic data interface, EDI, to guarantee placing orders needed. Kathy has mentioned that during the peak months of April and October through December, she needs to order more products to meet her customers’ demands, and they have missed several opportunities to accommodate community events. The Electronic Data Interface tool will enable her to track when the peak season begins and to prepare for annual community events. Furthermore the automated inventory control structure provides several benefits towards increasing Kathy’s profitability and reducing her losses through MRP, JIT, and EDI systems. Ms. Kudler has aspirations of expanding the departments of KFF to include coffee and tea, deli, and a fish counter. Implementation of the inventory control system will promote organization and a reduction in the waste of perishable items.
