Abstract

This paper provides a problem statement based on one of the issues described by Team C, which focuses management’s efforts to resolve this issue and achieve the organization’s goals. The paper will also illustrate an end vision of Kudler Fine Foods by describing where Kudler could be if this opportunity is realized by management action.
Kudler Fine Foods Problem Statement
Kudler Fine Foods (KFF) hopes to be the premier gourmet grocery store for savvy shoppers but they have some real issues that could lead to serious problems if they don’t address them. Among the issues discussed by Team C, KFF faces a problem with the confines of geographical expansion specifically as it relates to managements ability to deal with major business issues. Prior to illustrating an end vision of Kudler Fine Foods, this paper will create a problem statement that answers three basic questions: What is the problem? Who has the problem and who will decide the problem has been solved? What is the scope and limitations that can be used to solve the problem?
The Problem
Kudler Fine Foods plans to expand ‘out-of-area’ but given the small management team consisting only of the owner, Kathy Kudler, these expansion plans could make it more difficult for Kathy to visit each store and maintain inventory and ordering.
Who’s Involved
At this point, the main person involved in this problem is Kathy Kudler. She has the problem of being the only person in management and the only person who can decide if the problem has been solved. While the problem ultimately affects her customers as well as her employees, she is solely responsible for solving the problem.
