IMPLEMENTATION OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY – IRC
1. Integrated Repair Complex
IRC centre was established in alpha Dockyard in 16 Aug 1996 to undertake various multiskilling jobs. Since then the centre has been carrying out various multiskilling jobs there by reducing manpower, time delay in coordination and cost factor. Young apprentices join this centre for one year, where they are given exposure of various multiskilling jobs before they are transferred to main centre.
2. Need of Knowledge Management System
The asset of IRC has been young workers who act like rapid action force for any kind of jobs; however the disadvantage is lack of experience. The shortcoming can be overcome by implementing Knowledge management system. Life Is Lived Forward but Understood Backwards" Is a well Known saying; But the Implication of this adage will be more prudent in today's competitive world. There are tones of data in the organization; The Effective Data management can lead to more information based for the industry or to be more specific to the knowledge.
