JOSE RIZAL
The movie Jose Rizal is about our national Hero Dr. Jose Rizal- His life and work, his struggles In order to free his countrymen, until his death under the Spaniards.

Most of the scenes I like was took place during Rizal's imprisonment at Dapitan wherein he meets Luis Traviel ( the one who will defend him on his trial in court ) Traviel points out the contradiction that Mother Espana is what made Rizal into what he is. Traviel comes not only respect the intellectual, but also comes to understand the contradiction of Rizal owing everything he is to Mother Espana. He realizes that Rizal was indeed an innocent man. The scene between the two, Rizal and Traviel are touching.

But I found most amusing scene was on the Anatomy Class where Rizal sits in with the Spanish and Filipino male students. When the Spanish Professor ask Fernando (the Spanish student) and a Filipino student to stand up in front of their class. The professor asks “What can you say about the disparity in their heights? The Spanish students claimed that “height is symbol of Spaniards superiority “Then Rizal stand up to question” why Spaniards is losing their colonies to natives who are even shorter " and then the Filipino students burst into laughing.

Reflection:
It actually shows that the Spanish student was correct about “height is one of the symbols of Spaniards superiority to the Filipinos ". Yes, it's partly true that they rich in height. Literally. But let us look differ in the quotation. Spaniards are just using our own defect to show to us that their really superior. And what we do is think that they are right, that's why we lose our self esteem. We lose our freedom to fight for our right. We did not respect ourselves. That's why they did not respect us too.

Some Filipino said that how can we fight them? If we don't have the proper education or knowledge. The answer is just right in the corner. I can just say is to stand for our right, if it is right and if not, accept that we're wrong. It's not hard to stand and accept. Study hard so that no one will step on you. And Lastly, Fight for our freedom.

The film "Bontoc Eulogy" is about an American-Filipino man searching for his roots. He looked for confirmation and facts through the mountain province where he got actual footages of how the igorots are living and through different museums and records in the United States. He edited all his clips and re-enactments and made a whole narrative out of it. He made the film a story of how his igorot ancestor Marko was peacefully living in the Mounatin provinces and how he was just simply separated from his own family to be displayed for the civilized men to see in the St. Lous' World Fair in 1904. At the end he showed himself looking for artefacts and relics in different museums and end the story of himself wondering whether he will find his lost igorot ancestor or not. This film was a combination of facts and fiction. The actual footages were all real but the narrative that he made was all fiction. He may have an igorot ancestor but no one knows if this igorot ancestor of him is really part of the St. Louis' World Fair in 1904. Though the igorot ancestor story of him is just a fiction, we all know that fiction is sometimes necessary to light up the national consciousness in us. Rizal also used fiction in his time to uplift our desire for the better of our country. His novels were a great factor in building up the national consciousness of his fellow countrymen and lead them to fight for what is right for themselves and for their country. I was amazed how Marlon Fuentes made this kind of film/documentary. I love how he touched our human emotions to nourish the nationalist dream inside us by using a documentary and creating a story of how the ifugaos, our natives suffered in the St. Louis World Fair in 1904.…

Third, the writing of another ending for the novel El Filibusterismo. In the movie it was shown that Dr. Jose Rizal was hallucinating and he saw the character he created, Simoun appealing to him about his works, and telling Dr. Jose Rizal of how he should have ended the novel. Which lead to Dr. Jose Rizal in reflecting to himself and wrote another climax of his novel El Filibusterismo. This is inconsistent with history because there and it is obvious that is something made up for the viewers to be more interested in the film.…

The retraction of Rizal was shown by the use of the question and answer theme. The film makers ask questions to the people who are with Rizal when he is living like Josephine Bracken, his mother Dona Teodora, brother Paciano, sister Trining, sister Narcisa and also father Ballguer. The questions of the film makers were all answered by the one who they ask and that is the way how people will know the true life and true events on what happen when Rizal he is living.…

world is about the questions about our Filipino hero Jose Rizal. The film attempts to answer the questions about the life of Rizal that are vaguely being explainedin books about Philippine history while simultaneously informing the viewers about the greatcontributions he is famous for. The film emphasizes on the fact that people of the Philippinesonly learns or studies about Jose Rizal being the national hero and not facts and questions thatlies in his writings and actions when he was still alive. The directors emphasizes on the controversies in his life including his family and his loveaffair with Josephine Bracken regarding the retraction that Jose Rizal signed during his later dayswhile attempting to be wed with her. The directors tried to portray Jose Rizal as a coward thatdoesn¶t really want to be a hero, but an average Filipino person. They tried to convince themselves that he was willing to denounce all his teachings andall his hard work just to free the Filipinos just to be able to be wed with Josephine Bracken. But,because of lack of evidence, the filmmakers accepted the fact that the ultimate truth behind thelegend shall be kept a legend. The film makers also tried to add some facts that are just their mere subjectiveperceptions about Jose Rizal. They also assumed a lot of things about Jose Rizal, like thecamaraderie between Jose Rizal and his brother, the being ³Masungit´ of Jose Rizal¶s mother tothem and a lot more.Basically it¶s the life of Jose Rizal with a twist by modern filmmakers.…

The film starts with Jose Rizal in Belgium where he was writing his Novel, but I think the most appropriate setting is the place where our National hero was born, and it was in Calamba, Laguna.…

The casts, at the start, is having a problem as to what will be the highlight of their film. It is also shown in the movie that Rizal’s life was first made into a film by foreign directors. As what I understood with the movie, two foreign directors made Rizal’s life into a film at the same time and the first to finish filming was Yearsley. Yearsley’s film only showed Rizal’s trial and his execution at Bagumbayan on December 30, 1986.…

The film "Rizal: The Life of a Hero" and "Jose Rizal" are just some of the film formed in the previous period. The workmanship of the two films was so beautiful, so if I were Dr. Jose Rizal I will definitely like it especially the way how they approached the story of his life in putting it into the film. In the film "Rizal: The Life of a Hero" the distinction of this film is based on his written diary since childhood and some of the left letters that he gave to his family and friends. Presented here are some of the great events of his life and the incident gave reason to motivate him to become a hero. Noticed that it almost shown here all of his important achievements in all his life and especially the sacrifices he did for our country. Therefore, this film should only be the first one to watch because as a student I can appreciate it more clearly. As for the film "Jose Rizal", disclosed here that our national hero is truly talented as well as he used his own ability in a good way. It is making two of his famous novel titled El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere. Rizal became a doctor, a writer, a lover, an artist, a genius, a brother, son and a friend. Thus, all of them give high assessment of Rizal’s character. Despite much criticism and anger in him of the Spanish because of his novels made, Rizal still chose to sacrifice his life just to fulfill his desired freedom for the people against the Spanish colonial rule in…

The movie is about two writers of the film who seek to make a film or documentary to show the real events in the life of the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. Not just an ordinary movie about Rizal's life, but a film that depicts the issues about his heroism that most Filipinos have not been aware of. This became a problem for the writer of the movie, what would be the main subject of their film or documentary. Rizal's life has been filmed by foreign directors, and not to liken their projects in the pre-movie they want to vary the angle. Another problem they have is how they write and how they can communicate to appropriate viewers the message they want to convey.…

The film also works through a series of flashback showing Rizal as a genius, a writer, a doctor, an artist, a lover, a friend, a brother and a son, thus giving a rich texture of Rizal's character. I also commend the film for its bravery in showing the evil tyranny of the Catholic Church during that time. Considering that the Philippines is a Catholic nation, that is like butchering a sacred cow but alas, Abaya works her magic in depicting the suffering of the Filipinos because of the friars.…

The movie was an excellent picture of the life of Jose Rizal. The screenplay writers, cinematographers, editors, and the director surely were efficiently prepared in making the movie, as evidenced by the transitions made on every scene: from the real event to the flashbacks, to Rizal’s writings—Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, and how they were so related to his real life—until the execution at Bagumbayan.asdasdasdcdcqd dasdacfdafda a dascdds d asdaa asdcad…
