November 22, 1963 was an unforgettable day in American history. On this day the thirty-fifth President of the United States, John F. Kennedy (JFK), was assassinated in Dallas, Texas while he rode in an open limousine with Texas Governor John Conally (Wicker, 1963). He received fatal head wounds caused by one of the bullets from the shooting. Lee Harvey Oswald (Oswald), the only person ever formally accused of the assassination, ran away from the Texas Book Depository where he worked, and was stopped for questioning by a police official. …show more content…
A few agencies are the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) and the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB), plus some government researchers have recently challenged the Warren Commission 's conclusions in favor of something a little more open to the possibility of a cover-up (Lardner, 2001). All three of these government groups came to the conclusion that a conspiracy indeed had existed in the assassination of President Kennedy. Mutually the ARRB and the HSCA used the word "conspiracy", and the study led by government scientists concluded that there was a ninety-six percent chance of multiple shooters (Lardner, 2001). In reference they all use the Zapruder film, the unprofessional taping of the assassination, in addition to other government reports made by the Church Commission (Senate Select Committee to Study Government Operations with Respect to Intelligence Agencies) and the Rockefeller Commission (Commission to Investigate Central Intelligence Agency Activities Within the United States). In which all of the commissions concluded that some form of conspiracy transpired in 1964. Mutually, the FBI and the CIA "failed to communicate all relevant information to the [Warren] Commission"(Lardner, 2001). Many of the Warren Commission supporters claim they can find no motive for why a conspiracy would have taken place, but in disagreement, the Warren Commission has never presented an actual motive for either killer. In fact, there are many reasons why powerful groups would have wanted to kill President Kennedy as mentioned throughout this report. More information that pertains to the assassination of JFK, which has been secured by the government and unavailable to the public, will someday be available for one to possibly research thoroughly. In fact that time will be in 2030 and the United States government is required to release all remaining documents pertaining to the assassination (Murphy, 2001.). If the entire government, spearheaded by the CIA killed Kennedy, then they would not ever acknowledge it. Many other popular theories present good logical reasoning for why a good government cover-up would be in order.
As a final point, the last possibility is the government does not know who assassinated JFK. In order to project the appearance of being in control of the situation, they accused the Communist Russian, Lee Harvey Oswald. Even today, the government could possibly be using the time to find out who it was or make up a genuinely believable story.
