Thesis Statement
I think James Dean is important because he is one of the best actors that has ever lived and he shows that if you work hard at what you want to do, you can succeed. He was great at sports and worked hard to become a good actor. He wasn’t perfect at acting but he took his criticism the right way and used it to grow and become a better actor. He didn’t always have good times and he struggled a lot but in the end he had the success he deserved.
Background
1) At a young age Dean was learning about a lot of different subjects and did a lot of different activities
2) He was in dancing classes and played a lot of acting orientated games
3) His mom fed him different cultured foods and read him a lot of books
4) Born in Marion, Indiana February 8th, 1931
5) He was always interested in learning and trying new things
6) He was a good athlete in a variety of different sports like baseball, basketball, hockey, track, and football
7) As a kid, James was interested in the outlaw Billy the Kid, his interest in this person also tied together because his mom and Billy died on the same day (July 14th)
8) When James was thirteen his aunt and uncle had a baby Marcus Jr. he and Marcus became very close despite age difference
Educational Background
1. He planned on going to the University of California but then his freshman year he went to Santa Monica City College
2. His dad was trying to get him to major in a career in law or coaching
3. Since deans dad was paying for his college he had to take a pre law class
4. After deans freshman year he had better grades and then he left to UCLA
5. Neither of Deans mentors at the time thought he should go to UCLA but he still went
6. He wanted to go to UCLA because he wanted to go to a nice university and they had a lot of theatre classes
7. Once he went to UCLA he began to change in behavior because he wanted to do better in school socially and artistically
