Jake Endresen

On August eleventh, 1990, at six thirty in the evening, the first words that I herd when I came into this world were “It’s a boy!”. My last name originates from Norway; my great-great-grandfather took it with him when he came to America. Even though my last name, Endresen, doesn’t seem that hard to pronounce, to some people, it is. Every first week of school, you have teachers acting like its spelled Endreesen. But, I guess that is the price I pay for having such a unique name. My first name came from the figure in the Bible. On the other hand it is also a family tradition for someone to name their child’s name to start with the letter J. I inherited Emery because it is my fathers’ step-dads last name.

Jake Emery Endresen is a masculine and bold name. Jake is a very common name every where. The only way that you can tell if my name is special is if you look at my family’s first names. Once you do, you will realize that they all start with the letter J. It is the feeling of rubbing a new football, in that is tough, yet smooth. But, having such a strong name has some downsides to it also. For instance, when you go into a class and later discover that two other kids in the class also have that name. Sometimes it is so common, that I will be called other names.

In spite of the negatives about having my name, there are some outstanding positives. If I were to travel, most places around the world will know and understand how to pronounce my name. If you were to ask, what I would change my name to. I would refuse and I would leave it the way it is. Overall, I enjoy my name and I wear it well, and it wears me well.
