Conflict between Israel and Palestine
The conflicts between Israel and Palestine have gone on for years and have yet to be resolved. Both Muslims and Jews claim the same land as their holy land and refuse to share. There religious differences keep them from sharing the land and having peace.
"Mainstream Palestinians demand a state in the West Bank and Gaza. Right wing Israelis are opposed to creating a state, because, they claim, it would be a base for terror groups." Mideast web. Most Israelis feel that Muslims are prone to violence and terrorism. They feel they cannot share the land with them for that reason.
The major religious differences between Muslims and Jews are actually not major at all. Both Muslims and Jews believe in the literal meaning of each holy book, and that their god is the one true god. Both religions believe in the Old Testament books but the Muslims also believe the New Testament and the Koran.
It is sad to me to think that so many people have died over a piece of land. It isn't even a nice new piece of land, it is old and dirty but these people so strongly believe that it is theirs and they will fight for it.
The conflict between Israel and Palestine dates back as far as November of 1947 when the United nations recommended separating Palestine into two different states. This plan upset the Arab nations and the fighting began. A year later Zionist leaders established the state of Israel. Again more fighting broke out between the two nations.
'To your descendants I have given this land...I will give to you, and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession." (Genesis 15:18) In this passage God is telling Abraham that he is giving the land we know as Israel to him and his people.
