ON the 6th of June 1944, thousands of British and American troops headed to the shores of Normandy, France, to face on of the greatest threats of ww2, the Nazis. Omaha beach is known as bloody Omaha due to the amount of blood that was shed during the battle between the Americans and the Germans.

Britain and America were the allies throughout the battle on Omaha beach with the British navy (royal navy) being support to the Americans. The Americans were the main force in the invasion/battle. Their were 130,000 men involved in the landing at Omaha beach, with the first set of landings scheduled for 0630 hours with the 116th regiment under Omar Bradley and the 1st battalion under Major General Clarence r. Huebner. John S.D. Eisenhower was the mastermind behind the panning of the landings at Omaha and was the man who gave the word ‘go’ when it was decided to land on the shores of Normandy.
The US and Royal Navy were a means of transport for a proportion of the American troops landing at Omaha. A small amount of British were also apart of the assault craft that was crewed by the Royal Navy, Us Coast guard and US navy.
The Americans, with the aid of their British allies, were coming to take on the Nazi soldiers that were situated on the beach and inland at Omaha Beach, Normandy, in France.
