Internet Browser
Internet Explorer from Microsoft is considered the most widely used Internet Browser around the globe. Yet new and improved browsers are coming along with different specs, defying IE’s position and jeopardizing its reputation. But, if one was to use one of those browsers, which one should it be, and how to know? The following is my recommendation based on four main characteristics that a browser must have: JavaScript Manipulation, Internet Code Standards, Speed, and Safety.
The top 5 browsers around the globe are: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla FireFox, and Apple Safari (as listed on the image above). Here is a chart displaying each browser’s popularity.

Internet Explorer has about 60% of the market, while FireFox has about 30%, and the rest is shared among the others. Now we’re going to explore some tests on these browsers to determine which one works the best. Note that, all of these tests where performed on PC’s. Follow the links for more specifications if desired.
JAVASCRIPT
Most of the browser benchmarks that are found online are based on their performance in the manipulation of JavaScript. JavaScript is so important now days because most of the websites use it to have some type of advanced interaction with the user. One of the tests is the V8, which is Google’s own JavaScript test. The results go as follow:

It might seem a bit biased, since Google Chrome scored the highest in Google’s own test. But, a second JavaScript test “SunSpider” from webkit.org, and even though WebKit is the rendering engine for Safari, the score results confirm the previous test: Internet Explorer’s time was about 8,000 milliseconds to finish, while Chrome’s was 2,000.
So far, Chrome is winning.
