InterClean Benchmarking
Introduction
In today’s world of fast paced business, nothing less than 100% success is accepted (Nguyen, 2007). Companies and organizations thrive on consistency and profitability. A classic tool that has proven successful for most companies has been benchmarking. Basically, benchmarking is the modeling of similar success in similar or different industries and applying them to a company’s specific situation. Generic benchmarking is finding best practices or solutions to a company’s own problems through outside industries or seemingly non-related companies. The issues facing InterClean are; retaining employees, career and training development, human resource philosophy, and management of restructuring process and motivation. For these reasons InterClean develop a new product and restructure the organization to help them increase in profits.
InterClean has been a leader in the industrial cleaning and sanitation industry. They have recently acquired Enviro Tech with the vision of creating a new market in providing a complete solution to the customer. This change and acquisition has created some communication, training and recruiting issues. In order for InterClean to continue with its growth and succeed, the company must perform a process of problem solving which involves recognizing the present issues, identifying the crucial problem, identifying alternatives, assessing risks and selecting the best alternative or beneficial solution for the situation.
