Evaluation of Information Management Strategy
Abstract
‘Knowledge is our most powerful engine of production’, was said by Arthur Marshall in his book “Principles of Economics” in the 19th century, but it is true today as it was then; and to have knowledge, one has to have the right information which could be transformed into knowledge. In a world rich in events that takes place each fraction of a second, there is no shortage of information. So companies that are trying to carry out its duties in an efficient and effective manner is after one important thing: knowledge; knowledge based on relevant information, adequate information, and instant information.
Introduction
Companies are investing more in information systems infra structure because they realised the importance of having immediate access to information that would provide the competitive advantage, in order to compete with their competitors and rivals and to provide better service to their customers, and in some cases that is what their services is all about, providing information.
Information that is available to companies are complex and the amount is overwhelming, hence the need to implement appropriate systems that serves the need to disseminate these information and delivers them to users who require them across all the organizations’ departments, taking into consideration that each department’s requirements are unique.
Case
One of the companies that rely heavily on availability of the right and accurate information is THECompany. THECompany is an interdealer brokerage firm, which deals various ranges of financial securities between banks and other financial institutions across the globe.
